Education: Bachelor's degree. Tasks: Install software. Load printer with paper and forms. Maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), mainframe networks and computer workstations and peripheral equipment. Monitor the performance of computer systems and networks. Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software and operating system software. Perform routine network start up and close down and maintain control records. Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations. Set up local area networks and connections to the Internet. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts. Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work. Service attachments and working tools. Verify and repair emission control systems. Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. Computer and technology knowledge: Networking software. Internet. Desktop applications.
