Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. On-site customer service. Tasks: Assemble mechanical equipment. Assemble stationary industrial machinery. Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Repair or replace defective machinery parts. Supervise other workers. Fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up. Perform routine maintenance work on machinery. Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Installing machinery and equipment. Advise customers on work performed and condition of equipment. Repair electrical appliances and components. Replace faulty components. Refer to schematic drawings or product manuals to repair parts. Prepare written estimates of repair costs. Plan service routes. Diagnose faults, using testing devices. Conduct voltage, resistance and other tests using electrical test equipment. Use shop equipment and specialized diagnostic and programming apparatus to repair, adjust and reprogram appliances.
