Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Dental practice. Specialty dental practice. Tasks: Prepare patients for dental examinations. Order dental and office supplies. Perform administrative functions for the dental laboratory. Prepare dental instruments and filling materials. Maintain and order supplies. Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment. Educate patients concerning oral hygiene. Polish teeth and clinical crowns and apply fluoride and sealant. Perform intra-oral duties. Take and develop X-rays. Record dental procedures performed on patients. Administer local anesthetics. Ensure infection control. Apply fluoride treatment. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Registration with provincial or territorial authorities. Certification by the National Dental Assisting Examining Board.
