Western Zone is seeking the services of a salaried General Surgeon at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital (STRH), Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador. This position is responsible for inpatient and outpatient General Surgery services, elective and emergency surgeries at STRH. The call obligation is on a 1:2 rotation with the second General Surgeon located at this site. Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital is a 44-bed acute care hospital offering 24-hour emergency room service and predominantly General Surgery lists, although surgical services are being expanded. Procedural Chronic Pain clinics are run weekly. The hospital is located approximately one hour?s drive away from Corner Brook where Western Memorial Regional Hospital (WMRH) is located. WMRH is a brand new, state of the art, acute care hospital which opened in June 2024. It is a 164-bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland and provides services to a population base of approximately 80,000 people.We are affiliated with Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Faculty of Medicine and we encourage and support academic interests.Qualifications Required: Eligible for licensure as a General Surgeon with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certified or eligible and meets the credentialing requirements of Western Health?s Discipline of Surgery. Remuneration: The Specialist Salary Scale ranges from $263,672 to $285,596 per annum as outlined in the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines will officially determine a Physician?s step assignment with yearly progression thereafter.An annual Retention Bonus is offered in accordance with the current MOA.
