Bigstone Cree Nation Education Authority seeks an experienced leader for the position of High School Principal in Wabasca, Alberta. The Authority serves a total student population of approximately 500+ students. The incumbent will work closely with the Assistant Superintendent of Learning and Instruction to review and analyze the current learning portfolio and school portfolio for continued growth and improvement with the learning agenda to ensure curriculum actualization and quality instructional practices so students achieve a high standard. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Indigenous education, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering a learning environment that celebrates Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and perspectives. This role requires building strong relationships with the community, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers while working closely with the BCNEA leadership.Key Responsibilities<p>Instructional Leadership: <p> Curriculum and Pedagogy: Champion integrating Indigenous knowledge systems, perspectives, and culturally responsive teaching practices throughout the school's curriculum. Collaborate with teachers and BCNEA leadership to ensure alignment with educational standards while honoring Indigenous ways of knowing. <p> Professional Development: Provide and support ongoing professional development for teachers in Indigenous education, decolonizing practices, and culturally responsive pedagogies aligned with the BCNEA's vision and initiatives. <p> Student Success: Guide and support teachers in implementing differentiated instruction and assessment practices that meet the needs of all students, particularly Indigenous learners.<p>Cultural Leadership <p> Community Engagement: Proactively build strong relationships with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, parents/guardians, and community members to foster a sense of belonging and collaboration. <p> Cultural Programming: Lead the development and implementation of culturally enriching programs, celebrations, ceremonies, and activities honouring Indigenous traditions, values, and languages. <p> Inclusive Environment: Create a welcoming, respectful, inclusive school environment where Indigenous students, families, and staff feel valued and empowered.<p>Partnership with BCNEA <p> Alignment and Collaboration: Work closely with the BCNEA CEO to ensure the school's vision, programs, and practices align with the broader BCNEA goals for Indigenous education. <p> Strategic Planning: Participate in strategic planning initiatives with the BCNEA to shape the future of Indigenous education initiatives. <p> Reporting and Communication: Provide regular updates and reports to the BCNEA CEO on school progress, successes, and challenges.<p>Operational Leadership <p> School Management: Oversee the daily operations of the school, ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive learning environment. <p> Fiscal Responsibility: Manage the school budget strategically and responsibly. <p> Staff Supervision: Hire, supervise, evaluate, and provide guidance and support to teachers and staff. <p> Student Records Management: Ensure accurate and timely reporting of student records to the Alberta government via PowerSchool and PASI.<p>Qualifications <p> Master's Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field. <p> Valid Alberta Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) certification <p> Extensive experience as a teacher and/or administrator <p> Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories, perspectives, and educational best practices. <p> Proven track record of strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. <p> Ability to build trust, motivate, and inspire staff, students, and the community.<p&
